A United States business delegation will visit Maharashtra next month to explore investment opportunities in biotechnology, information technology and IT-enabled sectors in the state.
The delegation will be led by Rohina Bhandari, director of the US India Business Council and United States Council for International Business.
The USCIB will also host an US investors' forum later this year in India.
The forum will also feature discussions by distinguished Indian and US government officials besides investment presentations from various state governments.
The visit of the US delegation is in response to the visit of a high-level delegation to the US led by Maharashtra chief minister Sushilkumar Shinde last month where USIBC jointly hosted a business conference termed as the Manhattan India Investment Roundtable.
Frank Wisner, the former US ambassador and vice-chairman of the AIG group, had expressed interest in investing in Mumbai's real estate sector.
Shinde had emphasised on the new IT/ITe policy of Maharashtra while discussing the investment opportunities in the state.
Other participants had expressed keen interest in the special economic zone being set up at Navi Mumbai, the biotech sector and business process outsourcing and IT sectors in the state.
Shinde had expressed his desire to make USIBC a forum for promoting business interests of US-based companies while the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation would act as the nodal agency to maintain continuous liaison with USIBC, a suggestion that was readily accepted.
