Sensex gains 62 points to 12,071

The markets closed in the positive terrain with low volume. The Sensex was trading above the 12,000-level throughout the day.

The Sensex closed at 12,071.30 up 61.71 points. The Nifty breached the 3,500 mark but closed marginally below at 3,492.75 up 14 points.

The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 6,032.54 up 47 points.

The BSE Midcap Index ended at 5,059.19 up 24 points.

The BSE FMCG Index rose 2.2% at 2,053.31. Nestle, HLL, ITC, Colgate and Britannia closed in green.

The BSE Health Care Index was up 1.08% at 3,635.76. Divis Labs, Biocon, Cipla, Lupin and Nicholas Pirama closed higher.

The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 1.06% at 8,184.84. BEML, L&T, Lakshmi Machine, SKF India and Ingersoll Rand closed higher.

The BSE Bankex was up 0.3% at 5,659.06. IOB, Kotak Mahindra, Centurion BoP, SBI and Andhra Bank moved downwards.

The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,203.33 up 0.1%. Escorts, Cummins, Sundaram-Clayto, Ashok Leyland, MICO and M&M were among the losers.

The BSE IT Index rose 0.2% at 4,338.35. Moser Baer, Mphasis BFL, Wipro and Infosys advanced.

The BSE Oil and Gas Index lost 0.3% to close at 5,698.89. Chennai Petro, Kochi Refineries, Reliance, ONGC and MRPL closed lower.

The BSE Metal Index was down 1% to close at 8,145.27. Hind Zinc, Nalco, Welspun Guj, Mah Seamless and Sterlite Ind ended lower.

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 6075.52 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 18042.13 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 2881.04 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 26998.69 crore.

Sensex @ 1412 hrs

The markets have continued its gain. At 2:12 pm, the Sensex was up 59 points at 12,068. The Nifty was up 13 points at 3,492.

The market breadth was positive, about 1287 shares have advanced, 1014 shares declined, and 81 shares are unchanged.

HLL (2.85%), HDFC (2.66%), Cipla (2.51%), Reliance Comm (2.50%) and Suzlon Energy (4.09%) were the top gainers on the bourses.

Top losers were Tata Motors (-0.79%), ICICI Bank (-0.66%), TCS (-0.44%), Reliance (-0.35%) and ONGC (-0.69%).

The BSE FMCG Index was up 1.67%. The BSE Capital Goods and Healthcare indices were up over 1.20% each.

However, the BSE Metal Index was marginally down.

Sensex @ 1242 hrs

The markets are still trading at higher levels on the back of sustained buying interest in scrips.

At 12:42 pm, the Sensex was trading at 12,078 up 68 points and the Nifty was up 18 points at 3,496.

Suzlon Energy, HLL, Reliance Comm and ITC were top gainers on the Nifty.  However, Tata Motors, Tata Power, TCS and ICICI Bank were the top losers on the Nifty.

NSE Gainers:
Torrent Power AEC was quoting at Rs 263.00 up Rs 37.65, or 16.71%
Pritish Nandy Communications was quoting at Rs 48.60 up Rs 6.80, or 16.27%.
Geometric Software Solutions was quoting at Rs 113 up Rs 13.30, or 13.34%.
Kansai Nerolac Paints was quoting at Rs 856 up Rs 100.85, or 13.35%.
Dewan Housing was quoting at Rs 74.70 up Rs 8.65, or 13.10%.

Sensex @ 1206 hrs

The markets continue to trade in the green on sustained buying interest seen in scrips.

At 12:06 pm, the Sensex was trading at 12,088 up 78 points and the Nifty was trading 3,500 at up 21 points.

Top gainers on the Nifty are Suzlon Energy at Rs 1,216.50 up 4.47%, Reliance Comm at Rs 325.45 up 2.39% and Cipla at Rs 260.75 up 2.36%.

FMCG heavyweights HLL and ITC are also among the top gainers up over 2.2%.

Top losers on the Nifty are Tata Power at Rs 522.50 down 0.85%, Tata Motors at Rs 865.50 down 0.48% and VSNL at Rs 408.05 down 0.29% followed by TCS down 0.26%.

Sensex @ 1100 hrs

The markets have further strengthened and moved upwards on account of heavy buying interest in scrips across sectors.
At 11:00 am, the Sensex was trading at 12,098 up 88 points and the Nifty was trading at 3501 up 22 points.

Top gainers on the Nifty are Suzlon Energy at Rs 1,213.90 up 4.25%, Zee at Rs 327.25 up 2.36%, Dr Reddys Labs at Rs 761.00 up 2.04% followed by Cipla, L&T, PNB, IPCL and ITC.

Top losers on the Nifty are Tata Power at Rs 522.10 down 0.93%, SAIL at Rs 73.10 down 0.88%, NALCO at Rs 201.70 down 0.52% followed by Hindalco.

Sensex @ 0957 hrs

The markets opened in the positive terrain tracking its Asian peers.

At 9:57 am, the Sensex was up 48 points at 12058 and the Nifty was at 3,496.

Top gainers on the indices were Reliance Comm, Gujarat Ambuja, L&T, Tata Steel, Bajaj Auto, Suzlon Energy, Wipro and TCS.

Asian markets were broadly higher Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted gained 2.67% or 178.44 points, South Korea's Seoul Composite was up 1.11% or 15.11 points, Singapore's Straits  Times surged 0.66% or 16.74 points and Hong Kong's Hang Seng firmed up 0.62% or 106.56 points.

Wall Street ended higher on Friday; Dow was up 33 points.
