Indonesia's Salim may set up food units in W Bengal

Salim group of Indonesia is likely to set up food processing plant in West Bengal. This could include a noodles manufacturing unit and a dairy plant.

A high level delegation of Indo Foods, the food processing arm of Salim group met West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya on Tuesday to discuss the possible investment in food sector. 

The delegation was lead by the chief executive officer of Indo-Foods, Kevin Saito. Later, Saito said the group was keen to invest in food processing sector in the state.

The delegation visited on Thursday Sankrail in Howrah district, west of Kolkata, to inspect a site for the proposed plant. The Indo Foods team is likely to visit the defunct Haringhata dairy of the state government, north of Kolkata, on Wednesday. 

The chief minister had requested the president and CEO of Salim group Antony Salim to invest in food sector in the state.
