Fortune to set up 10,000 terminals across country

Online lottery company Fortune is planning to set up 10,000 terminals across the country by the year end.

The outlet profile would range from departmental and grocery stores to coffee bars, ice cream parlours, book stores, restaurant, cyber cafe, STD booths and entertainment centres, Arun Batra, chief (sales and distribution), Fortune, said.

In Kerala, Fortune has 475 terminals and plans were afoot to raise that number to 1000 by the year end. Besides Kerala, Fortune has terminals in West Bengal and parts of Maharashtra and was also eyeing Tamil Nadu, he said.

Several state governments, including Kerala, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab, were planning to issue licenses for online lotteries.

In Kerala, the bids for the online lottery was being processed, he said.

With more new players, including Apollo and Modi, coming into the fray, Fortune was planning to meet the competition by launching more innovative games and providing better accessibility to players.

Worldwide, the lottery market has a turnover of $128 billion. The Indian lottery industry is currently estimated to be about Rs 50,000 crore (Rs 500 billion).
