Two-wheeler maker LML has posted a 54.6 per cent rise in motorcycle sales in September at 15,614 units against 10,097 units in the same month last year.

Scooter sales, however, declined by 44.1 per cent to 2,942 units, while that of the Trendy scooterette went down by 80.7 per cent to 28 units during the month, a company spokesperson told PTI in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Sale of motorcycles during April-September 2003 surged by 254.3 per cent to 99,547 units, the spokesperson said.

Scooters, however, slipped by 51.5 per cent to 18,821 units, while mopeds fell by 88.4 per cent to 117 units during the period under review.

The Kanpur-based LML, the youngest entrant in the motorcycle segment, has been witnessing a steady increase in sales after the launch of the 110cc motorcycle Freedom in July last year.

The company also makes the Adreno and Energy range of motorcycles in technical alliance with South Korea's Daelim Motors.
