As part of ramping up its international operations, Jet Airways is planning to launch direct services to Bangkok from New Delhi and Kolkata. The private airline is also exploring options to enhance frequencies between India and London.

"Jet Airways plans to start services to Bangkok from two Indian destinations in the latter part of winter schedule," Jet Airways chief executive officer Wolfgang Prock Schauer said.

Schauer added that international operations with the Boeing 737 family of aircraft are turning profitable and the airline is keen on adding more destinations.

"We are also looking forward to adding more capacity on the India-UK route. At present, we are operating 24 flights a week," he disclosed.

He hinted that the airline is keen on increasing the frequency of flights from Amritsar to London, whose frequency at present is three days a week. Apart from Amritsar, Jet Airways operates two daily flights between Mumbai and Delhi to UK.

Meanwhile, Jet Airways will start its new international flight linking New Delhi with Singapore from Tuesday.

The direct service to Singapore will be the third direct non-stop flight operated by Jet Airways from India to Singapore. The airline already operates daily direct flights from Chennai and Mumbai to Singapore.

The airline will operate the new route with a next-generation Boeing B737-800 aircraft with winglets for improved performance. The aircraft has been specially configured for international operations with 16 seats in Club Premiere and 124 seats in the Economy Class.

In another development, Jet Airways introduced on-demand audio and video entertainment system for domestic air travellers. This will be initially available in the new Boeing 737-800 aircraft operating from Mumbai to Hyderabad, Delhi and Bangalore.

"Jet Airways will make this facility available across other domestic sectors as new additional aircraft are inducted into its fleet. There will be in-seat power for laptops," said Gaurang Shetty, vice-president, Marketing, Jet Airways.
