Indian Oil Corp is taking extra crude from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to make up for the shortfall from Iraq and Nigeria, a company official told Reuters on Thursday.
"We are getting a cargo of Kuwaiti crude instead of a cargo of Escravos crude from Nigeria, which was to be loaded on March 26. It will arrive by April 20," the official, who did not want to be named, said.
He said IOC was also planning to take a cargo of Saudi crude to make up for the loss of Iraqi crude.
State-run IOC, India's largest refiner, has been a regular buyer of Iraqi crude, but in November it decided to buy only one cargo a month from Iraq to reduce the risk of supply disruption in case of war.
"Saudi Arabia has offered us one cargo to make up for the loss of Iraqi crude," the official said.
