To help the private sector, especially micro and small enterprises, to come forward and join hands for fulfilling corporate social responsibility, Council for People Advancement of People Action and Rural Technology is aiming to strengthen the relationship between civil society organizations and industry.

Capart Director General Mohammed Haleem Khan said Capart was trying to provide a platform to private enterprises both offline (physical) as well as online where they could link up with non-governmental organizations.

In addition to organizing CSR-CSO Bridge at the national level and zonal level, Capart, through its website, also offers information as to how the industry, especially micro and small enterprises, could link up with NGOs, which could help them fulfil CSR responsibilities.

In addition to online help, CSR-CSO Bridge is organized whereby efforts are made to link up the industry with various NGOs.

Mohammed Haleem Khan was in New Delhi to participate in the regional CSR-CSO Bridge held in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Khan said since the government-governed projects take time and involve additional costs, from tax collection to disposing budgetary allocation to reaching out through its developmental programmes, the direct link up between corporate and civil society is more efficient.

"More than 75 per cent of the Indian industry is MSEs. Hence, its time that MSEs should come forward to join hands and take up corporate social responsibility as a mandate for their sustainability in the long run. Corporate and individuals have always participated in social development, in the name of charity/ social work. What is needed now is to channelize the efforts and professionally shape these initiatives in a conscious direction," he said.

Meanwhile, Pehal, a dedicated exposition showcasing work of around 20 NGOs, was also organized.
