SAP India and IBM Global Services India on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding under which IBM and SAP will work together to train and recruit more than 850 certified consultants on SAP solutions with a special focus on Netweaver and New Dimension Products.

This strategic alliance will address the growing requirement of resources with specific skills on SAP solutions.  SAP shall provide training on SAP solutions to chosen resources referred by IBM as per its requirements.

Speaking about the MoU Amitabh Ray, director, global delivery, IBM Global Services India said, "IBM has a robust SAP practice in India. Our MoU with SAP is an effort to further develop and grow SAP talent within IBM, thereby addressing growing client needs."

"This memorandum of understanding will help expand IBM's capabilities in the SAP domain including New Dimension Netweaver space and provide enhanced career opportunities for SAP certified professionals in the Indian marketplace, he added."

Endorsing his view Nagaraj Bhargava, director, marketing and alliances, SAP India said, "We are excited about this initiative that we are taking with IBM. This initiative will go a long way in ensuring quality training for the ever-growing SAP community in India. This is also a step towards attracting talent to work on the SAP applications and technologies like SAP NetWeaver."

According to the MoU, IBM and SAP will select people to undertake the programme, which will include subject matter experts in key domain areas as well as experienced in different technologies.

IBM will provide provisional offer of employment to selected candidates and upon acceptance of IBM's offer of employment, the selected candidates will undergo formal training on SAP solutions at SAP Academy.

The curriculum of the training programme will be jointly designed by SAP and IBM, keeping in mind real life client engagements and successful candidates will be awarded an SAP certificate and can join IBM as per pre-employment terms.

IBM will reimburse the complete course fees in a phased manner during the first 12 months of employment.
