With the start of the lean travel season, Indian Airlines on Thursday took the lead in announcing a new scheme offering discounts of up to 60 per cent below the normal fares in 85 sectors across the country.

There is no requirement for advance booking of tickets under the new 'Easy Fares' scheme, which provides fares at four levels and are sector-specific, an IA spokesman said in New Delhi.

'Easy Fares' are a modified version of the existing special fares like 'Fly Select Fares', APEX, Positioning Flight Fares, which have now all come under the purview of this new scheme, he added.

For instance, the fare on Delhi-Ahmedabad sector inclusive of Passenger Service Fee would be Rs 5,221 at Level-1, Rs 4,221 at Level-2, Rs 3,521 at Level-3 and Rs 2,921 at Level-4, he said, adding that the number of levels could also vary for different sectors.

The number of seats available under each class would be dynamic. Once the allocation for a particular level has been met, the next higher level fare would automatically become applicable, the spokesman said.
