Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts' five-star hotel project in Mumbai, its first project in the country, is going to get a taste of the dragon soon. The group is planning to source its entire wood requirement from China.

A few hundred tonne of wood will be imported from China for the hotel project.

Moreover, the entire wood work and designing will be done by 250 carpenters and artisans to be flown in from China this month.

The 35-storied hotel -- to be one of the tallest structure -- is being developed by real estate developer, Magus Estates.

The project is likely to be completed by the year end. The hotel will be managed by Four Seasons.

"We are planning to create a unique design for our hotel. The automation and skill-sets available with the Chinese artisans are the best in the world. The quality of Chinese wood is also superior," said a senior official of the Four Seasons group.

The external concrete structure of the hotel has been finished and the developer is in the process of completing its interiors.

The Rs 260-crore (Rs 2.6-billion or $70-million) hotel will comprise 180 to 190 rooms and 40 to 45 apartments.

The hotel, located at Worli in Mumbai, overlooks the Arabian Sea, Mahalaxmi Racecourse and Wellington golf course.

The hotel will have a mix of deluxe hotel rooms, serviced apartments (one, two and three bedrooms), condominiums and commercial space for high-end retail.

It will feature the world-class facilities and services of a five-star luxury hotel including restaurants, bars, banquet rooms, meeting rooms, business centre, fitness centre and spa.

The group has plans to develop hotels in other metros such as Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderbad.

Globally, the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts owns and manages about 80 hotels and resorts across America, Europe, West Asia, Africa and Asia-Pacific.
