In a relief to the management of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), which is facing labour unrest, a civil court in Gurgaon has ordered the local administration, including police, to evict striking contract workers from the company premises at Manesar.

"The court has asked the administrative authorities, including Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon IG Police, SSP Gurgaon and SHO Manesar to assist in evicting the strikers whose agitation is illegal," HMSI vice-president (General Affairs) H S Shekhawat said.

Shekhawat said the court has ordered that the striking contract workers, estimated to be around 200, be evicted from the company's Manesar plant and prohibited any gathering by them within a radius of 300 meters from the factory's main gate.

"The court had passed the order on Thursday. But since the authorities did not take action, we approached the court again which yesterday (Friday) asked the administration to carry out its orders," Shekhawat said.

The court in its order had stated, "Since it is the ordinary duty (of) administrative authorities to see that directions given by court are complied with, the application filed today is allowed and DC Gurgaon, IG Police Gurgaon, SSP Gurgaon and SHO Manesar are directed to provide police aid so that the order dated September 21 are implemented."
