The company also said it is now logging a monthly messaging volume of 40 billion from 20 billion in August 2015.

MessengerIndia’s second largest messaging app, Hike, on Thursday said it has crossed the 100-million-users mark in just three months after crossing 70 million users in October 2015.

The company also said it is now logging a monthly messaging volume of 40 billion from 20 billion in August 2015.

“Users are spending over 120 minutes a week on Hike.

"For example, users are viewing 11.2 news stories on average per user per day; and since the launch of Hike Direct in October 2015, have transferred close to 10 million files totaling to more than 200 terabytes of data till date without the internet,” the company said.

Hike is working on a slew of products that it believes would be a major source of revenue in the near future.

Cashing in on the ongoing festive season, the company has tied-up with more than 100 brands, including online marketplace giants, and has launched a coupon service for getting discounts and benefits from partner brands.

“We’re off to a great start in 2016.

Crossing 100 million users is a big milestone for us and we have achieved this well ahead of our expectations,” Kavin Bharti Mittal, chief executive officer & founder, Hike Messenger, said.

The company said 90 per cent of users are based in India.

“Hike has a localised strategy for the country and continues to reach this young user base that consumes enormous amounts of byte-sized information, craves social interactions, shares like never before and survives on many challenges such as poor connectivity and limited data,” it said.

The company, which has a headcount of 200 employees at present, plans to double it in the next year.
