Hewitt Outsourcing Services (India) Ltd, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Chicago-based Hewitt Associates, has decided to make India its delivery hub for the Asia-Pacific market. Hewitt Associates is a $2 billion human resources outsourcing and consulting company.
Hewitt India will service organisations in the Asia-Pacific region with its single-window solutions for payroll and benefits administration and compliance, as well as consulting.
Today Hewitt India handles over 300,000 employee records across over 220 clients covering diverse industry groups.
Speaking to the Business Standard, Leo Fernandez, president, Hewitt Outsourcing Services (India) Ltd, said, "Last year, our parent company took over Cyborg and Embrace, two other companies that specialise in payroll management. Since these companies already had a significant presence in the South East Asia, it automatically provides us the market access. Our Indian operations will now be a delivery hub for the Asia-Pacific market."
Currently, Hewitt India handles payrolls processing and benefits management to companies like Philips, HP, Oracle, L&T, Pfizer, Siemens, Texas Instruments, IBM, Convergys, Mindtree Consulting, Cholamandalam, TATA AIG, General Motors, Saint-Gobain, Castrol, among others.
A decision to cater to the Asian market could also mean that existing clients may want Hewitt to manage payroll for their respective employees in the Asia-Pacific region.
"US is a pure-pitch play and is only based on cost. On the other hand, pitching for clients in Asia-Pacific region is still based on core competence. With our intention to cater to Asia-Pacific by using India as a regional hub, we will at least double our employee records in the next 2-3 years," Fernandez added.
Expressing happiness that the significance of HR was increasing by the day, he said, "As HR becomes strategic, administration will be outsourced. It is time for HR to move from back room to the boardroom."
