Gag FM's comment on markets: BJP

The BJP's investor cell has asked the Prime Minister to gag finance minister P Chidambaram from making any statements, saying his 'abnormal behaviour' was creating more trouble in the capital market.

"The abnormal behaviour of the finance minister by making daily comments on Sensex is creating more trouble in the capital market," BJP investor cell national convenor Kirit Somaiya said.

He said when the index was rose abnormally, Chidambaram was boastingĀ of economic growth. "When the sensex crashed, he started making contradictory statements. One day he says it is correction and the next day he says it is manufactured crisis," Somaiya contended.

"Third day, he says it is misinterpretation of the CBDT circular by FIIs and now he is saying that a capital gain tax BJdebate started by his ministry is for Indian investors," he said.

Somaiya said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh must ask Chidambaram to stop making statements on the markets.

Accusing the finance minister of creating confusion and burdening domestic investors, Somaiya said: "Now he wants to tax Indian investors by creating confusion on long term and short term capital gains tax."
