Mumbai is going to get six new flyovers by 2008 at the cost of Rs 150 crore (Rs 1.5 billion), announced minister for public works department Anil Deshmukh last Friday.

The new flyovers will be constructed at Kherwadi in Bandra, Dindoshi, Kandivali, Sumannagar, the junction of SV Road and Burfiwala Road junction.

In

Replying to a question about controversial flyover at Peddar Road which has been opposed by singer Lata Mangeshkar and others Deshmukh said, "State government, intends to start the work on the road by the December this year".

He claimed that, environmental study report done by Maharashtra Pollution Control Board indicates that, once the flyover is completed, pollution levels in the area will come down substantially, contrary to the fears of residents.

Much talked about, Bandra-Worli Sea link will be completed by April 2008, assured the minister.
