The devastating fire that gutted the four-storied building housing the marketing office of Dunlop India Ltd early this morning would have no impact on the revival plans of the company, a spokesman said.

The spokesman told PTI that the property, which had been cleared for sale by the AAIFR (Appellate Authority of Financial and Industrial Reconstruction) for rehabilitating the sick firm, was being currently used as a storehouse by Dunlop.

The spokesman said the fire could be the handiwork of some "disgruntled elements", and the Dunlop management wanted the police to make a thorough investigation.

The loss arising out of the fire was yet to be estimated, the spokesman said.

The building had been lying unused for several years as the company shifted its corporate office to Mumbai and the registered office located at 57B Mirza Ghalib Street was lying vacant as the firm closed down operations two years back.

Meanwhile, the company management was holding talks with the trade unions at Sahagunj and Ambattur for re-opening the two factories.
