As part of its global expansion plans, Dabur Pharma has acquired the sales and distribution network of Thailand-based Bioscience for an undisclosed sum.
"The acquisition is an extension of our forward integration process and this should make us the number one generics cancer drugs company in Thailand," Dabur Pharma chief operating officer Ajay Viz told PTI.
He said as per the deal, Dabur Pharma had acquired the entire sales and distribution network of Bioscience Co giving it access to all the cancer hospitals in Thailand.
Vij, however, declined to disclose financial details of the transaction, but said the deal was funded from internal accruals.
He said the company expected to start reaping the benefits of the acquisition starting from the ongoing quarter of this fiscal.
"The entire reflection of the sales should be showing from next fiscal but we expect to start it by the last quarter of current fiscal," Vij said, adding it expected to start its products, including the recently launched novel drug delivery system for cancer Nanoxel, through the newly acquired distribution network.
He said Dabur Pharma was looking at similar opportunities in other countries in Europe, the United States and less regulated markets such as Brazil and Russia.
"We are also looking at strengthening our presence in markets like Philippines and Malaysia," he said.
Vij said the company was interested in having a presence in the Chinese market and was currently exploring ways to enter the market.
