The Games Management System, a state-of-the-art management system for large-scale international sporting events, developed by the CMC Limited at their R & D division here was successfully used during the just-concluded National Games.
CMC is now looking forward to using the system at the forthcoming Afro-Asian games towards the end of next year as well as the African Games.
According to Chinta Prakash, who heads the CMC in Hyderabad, the system was developed by CMC's International Systems Group in 1987 and used successfully in several games in India as well as in other countries.
But the one used for the National Games was an improved and re-engineered superior product to handle the complex activities of major sporting events.
It is an integrated software that can efficiently capture, manage and process large quantity of data and disseminate the processed information. It was one of the best games management systems in the world, he claimed.
He said CMC was awarded the order just one month before the event and the responsibilities entrusted included setting up and managing a 24-hour operational support for the IT infrastructure, call centre for providing information relating to the event to the general public, implementing its Games Management System, software package to facilitate accreditation of the participants, providing important information from the System for delivery over SMS messaging network.
Additionally, CMC also provided consultancy for installation and operational support for the video-display board at the main athletics stadium.
CMC executive director J S Rawalgaonkar and members of the International Systems Group were also present at the news conference.
