Honda has finally launched its most anticipated premium hatchback Jazz with a price tag of Rs 530,000. The car is being offered in 12 different trims with the top end priced up to Rs 859,000. This most awaited hatchback was pretty much in the news for the last couple of months thanks to speculations regarding the diesel engine and advanced features. Some of the features that are incorporated in Jazz 2015 are magic seats, touchscreen infotainment system, paddle shifters, and sleek A/C with touch panel.

Moreover, dealers prior to the launch had started taking advance booking at an upfront payment of Rs 21,000 and according to media reports, the company already booked 2,336 units of Jazz. The automaker has learnt from their past faults and thus incorporated the most fuel efficient 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine along with the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine in this 2015 Jazz. With such amendments, the new Jazz looks promising compared to its predecessor. Let’s find out more about this car…

Stylish Exteriors

The front profile of Jazz reminds one about its bigger sibling – City but some necessary changes make it a bit different. The thick black grille looks quite promising and is garnished by chrome lining that makes it pretty elegant. The car comes with swept back headlamps that add style proportion. The side profile is pretty much inspired from City whereas the rear profile sports LED tail lamp cluster as well as reflective elements linking the C–pillar along with the windshield. In terms of dimensions, the new Jazz 2015 gets 1525mm of height along with 3996mm of length and 1694mm of width. The minimum ground clearance of 165mm and wheelbase of 2530mm provides spacious cabin for its passengers.

Comfy-High-Tech Interiors

As far as the interiors are concerned, Jazz 2015 gives a high-end feel and airiness compared to its previous model. The instrument panel, dashboard and overall layout of the new Jazz are identical to City thus providing the interiors a stylish and flamboyant look. The high-end model comes with all black interiors with silver inserts while the central console sports a 6.2 inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers satellite based voice guided turn-by-turn navigation. The infotainment system of Jazz 2015 also supports Bluetooth, audio streaming as well as DVD / CD playback.

Moreover, the new Jazz sports magic seats, automatic AC along with touch panel control, same that is there in Honda City. Besides it has 9 cup holders and 354 litres of boot space. In terms of safety, this new hatchback is packed with features like ABS, EBD which comes standard across diesel trims apart from regular features like front disc brakes, impact beam, and rear defogger.

Engine and Performance

This new hatchback sports a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine which produces maximum power of 100PS and 200Nm of peak torque that comes mated with 6- speed gearbox, whereas, the petrol variant gets a 1.2 litre i-VTEC unit that generates 90 PS of maximum power along with peak torque of 110Nm. Moreover, the petrol version is offered with choice of automatic CVT transmission and 5-speed manual transmissions.

Mileage

Honda not only introduced a diesel engine this time but also tuned it smartly to derive excellent mileage of 27.30kmpl, segment best and top second in the country after Celerio diesel. The petrol engine is pretty good as well with fuel efficiency of 18.7kmpl.

Competition

As far as the competition is concerned, this new Jazz 2015 locks horns with Hyundai Elite i20, Fiat Punto Evo and Volkswagen Polo. The amount of features and specification incorporated in the price tag thus makes this new Jazz hatchback worth for its money. Taking in view the amount of pre-launch bookings received by the company, it specifies that this new Jazz will surely improve its image in the Indian market.
