Apollo Hospitals Group chairman Prathap Reddy Spelling out his succession plan, health service provider Apollo Hospitals Group chairman Prathap Reddy said on Wednesday his eldest daughter Preetha will take charge of the group once he retires.

The group is also grooming executives in other positions to step in as and when their seniors retire.

"The succession is automatic. Preetha will succeed whenever I step aside," Apollo Hospitals Group chairman Prathap C Reddy told PTI.

The 76-year-old, however, did not give any specific timeframe for retirement. "I don't know (when I would retire). Routine things are looked after by them (the daughters). Therefore, I am not involved in regular day-to-day management."

The group has a succession plan in place and all of Reddy's four daughters have well-defined roles.

"I have my daughters who are looking after four verticals. I should not be saying this, they are brilliant," he quipped.

His eldest daughter Preetha is Apollo Hospitals' managing director while Suneeta is executive director (finance) and Sangita is executive director (operations). Shobana Kamineni looks after health insurance and new initiative businesses of the group.

Asked about the roles the other three daughters will play once Preetha takes over, he said: "My other daughters have their hands full."

Ruling out any possibility of conflict between his daughters, Reddy said: "It's a nice transition. They have been groomed into their positions. They are managing these things beautifully."

Apart from his own succession, Reddy said the group has charted out a strategy to fill in the void left by either retirement or leaving of senior executives.

"We have also the next level of important executives, 10-11 of them who are our strength. . . Automatically there is a next round of people and we are continuously looking for talent," he said, adding that the group also has around 950 senior executives and 1,250 seniors managers.
