An American business delegation from Singapore will be in New Delhi from Tuesday on a four-day study of new business opportunities in India.

The four-day business trip is led by US ambassador to Singapore, David Adelman, and comprises 15 chief executive officers of major American corporations based in Singapore.

"The objective is to gain in-depth insights on business issues in India," said Laura Deal, the executive director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, which has 4,200 corporate members.

"We have representation from across the industry in the delegation," she said.

It is the largest American delegation visiting India from Singapore to follow up on business development with Indian corporations after US President Barack Obama's state visit last November, she said.

A series of meetings have been arranged with American businesses already operating in India as well as Indian corporations and commerce, industry, trade and economies ministers and senior officials.

Meetings have also been scheduled with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The delegation will spend two days in New Delhi and another two days in Mumbai.
