Adlabs Films has entered into an agreement with Vipul Shah, maker of hit films like Aankhen and Waqt, for the production of motion pictures and television software. Adlabs will put in Rs 210 crore (Rs 2.10 billion) for the venture.

While Rs 170 crore (Rs 1.70 billion) will be used for film production, Rs 40 crore (Rs 400 million) will be utilised for Adlabs' foray into television software production.

Shah will be producing 10 to 12 films in the medium to high budget range and will hire other filmmakers to make films over a period of three years. He will also produce programmes for television.

The first co-production between Adlabs and Shah is a Indo-British venture Namaste London, which should hit the floor in July. This is the biggest co-production venture by Adlabs till date.

The company recently has also tied up with filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for a total of 12 films, Prakash Jha for two films, Bobby Bedi for three films and Ramesh Sippy for four films.

Adlabs is looking at producing at least seven to eight movies every year.

On the television front, Adlabs is co-producing two projects -- Mamta for Zee Telefilms and Sony's Thodi Khushi Thode Gham with Shah.  The plan is to increase television content by getting into partnerships with several television production houses.
