Banglaore-based personal computer manufacturer Acer India (Pvt) Ltd will soon export PCs to Bangladesh and is exploring other neighbouring markets for shipping IT products.

"We will foray into exports with Bangladesh initially and later on expand to other neighbouring markets. We will also enhance production capacity at Pondicherry facility from 20,000 units to 22,000 if required," Acer India managing director W S Mukund told reporters in Bangalore.

Asked about setting up new manufacturing facility in India, he said the parent company Acer is having 15 such facilities in various parts of the country, including Singapore and Dubai and "factory at Pondicherry is capable of meeting the export and domestic demand.

"We have also tied up with over 2,300 channel partners to establish markets in Tier II and III cities. We are targeting even smaller towns like Anand, Namkkal and Salem," Mukund said.

Meanwhile, Acer India, in partnership with local hardware channel partners, has opened six new exclusive Acer Malls in Mumbai for selling entire range of Acer desktops, notebooks and consumer peripherals including PCs, the TravelMate notebook series and projectors.

Acer India general manager S Rajendran said the company was planning to set up 250 Acer retail outlets by the end of 2005 from the current 190 outlets.

"The company is also expecting a turnover of Rs 650 crore (Rs 6.5 billion) in this fiscal against Rs 517 crore (Rs 5.17 billion) last year," he said.
