Private sector helicopter charter company Deccan Aviation [Get Quote] on Monday announced the launch of helicopter charter service from the Bangalore International Airport to select locations in the city.

A Bell 206 Jet Ranger would be deployed for the service, a Deccan Aviation release said. Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddiyurappa would inaugurate the Deccan Aviation facility at BIA on Tuesday.

The service called "Deccan Skylimo" would begin operations from BIA to Electronic City, Whitefield and HAL in Bangalore on July 2.

The helicopter service to Palace Grounds would be added shortly. The first service would start at 0630 hours and the last drop to BIA would be at 1800 hours daily.

"The helicopter service will address the issue of airport connectivity for business travelers to the city and provide a convenient alternative to road travel", it said.

The fare for these helicopter charters are in the range of Rs 4800 - Rs 5800 per person (per trip).
