Chidambaram lauds Lalu's Budget February 26, 2007 13:53 IST Complimenting Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for presenting a "growth-oriented" budget, Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Monday said benefits of the growth have been passed on to consumers. "This (Railway budget) has shown the way how growth can benefit all," Chidambaram told reporters in Parliament House. He said across-the-board reduction in passenger fares, moderating of freight charges and other benefits have shown how the benefits could be passed on to common people. The Railways also continued to post profit, he said. By taking into account the inflationary situation, Lalu has also shown how the government is making efforts to moderate the price situation, Chidambaram said.Railway Budget 2007-08: Complete Coverage Buy Taxmann's Budget 2007-08 (with analysis) on Rediff Books.
