IIT Kanpur will soon have a world class management school of business with the financial assistance of an alumini couple. Raj Singh and his wife Neera Singh have decided to give Rs 9 crore (Rs 90 million) for setting up the business school.

"We want that IIT-K should have a world class school of business management so that students passing from this institute can compete with others," Raj Singh told PTI in Kanpur.

Raj graduated in electrical engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1975 while his wife Neera graduated in chemical engineering in the year 1981 from the same institute. Both are presently engaged in US in telecom business.

"We didn't had a separate school for business studies. We are delighted by this offer", said Dean of IIT-K Resource Management Division Sudhir Jain.

A proposal for the same will be presented before the board of directors and as soon as it gets the nod it will be implemented, he added.

Raj and Neera met IIT-K Director Prof Sanjay and other professors and students during their stay at the institute.
