Parisians take a summer evening stroll near a replica of the Statue of Liberty on the narrow Allee des Cygnes island in the River Seine in Paris, July 1, 2001. French sculptor Frederic August Bartholdi designed the original statue, 'Liberty Enlightening the World', devoting 20 years of his life to the project. The Statue of Liberty, gift from the people of France to the United States, was unveiled on October 28, 1886 in New York harbour.
