Pehla Nasha: 'She is my angel'

Last updated on: February 22, 2011 10:48 IST

It may all seem a little funny now and may mean nothing to you beyond a fond memory, but it's fun reminiscing all about your first love!

We've been inviting readers to share stories of their first loves with us. Here is Rajaneesh's story!

I was working on a project for an IT company when I first met her. A group of fresh graduates joined my project and I was given the responsibility to train them. I wouldn't be lying if I say lighting struck me that day however we did come close in a not so normal situation.

During the training, one of the girls in the group started showing unusual interest in me and it was quite obvious during the sessions.

There were a number of remarks about how I dressed or the way I spoke to catch my attention. But to your surprise this girl isn't the one for whom I am writing this story. My first love was in fact a friend of the 'other girl' who was unusually keen to learn from me.

Our friendship grew stronger when she started helping me go through the uncomfortable training sessions.

She became an important ally while I continued to turn down the advances made by the other girl.

As we started spending more time with each other, the rumours about us also started doing the rounds.

She intentionally started to avoid me probably thinking about how I would react to all these rumours. This caused us to drift apart though we continued to cross each other's way on an every day basis.

Few days later she went home on Diwali vacations without me having any clue of the trip and that's when I realised how much I missed her.

I sent her an email for each day of her absence from the office. I penned down a list of reasons, which made me think of her. Upon her return, those mails made our friendship revive and I started to grow very fond of her.

After being friends for weeks I realised we had similar ambitions, likes and dislikes in life.

By that time I was dreaming about her 24/7 and she had become someone very important to me.

I wanted her to know that I didn't want us to be just friends and had nothing but love for her.

And as it always happens that love finds its way, I got an opportune moment to let her know of my feelings.

I had a dream date planned for her for Valentine's Day, which was a week ahead.

At the earliest opportunity I gathered courage and asked her for a date on Valentine's Day.

To this day I am not sure which caused more damage to my heart, the refusal that came my way or the quickness with which she said that she had other plans.

I went deep into a state of sadness and shock.

Then one day we met in a common friend's birthday party. We started talking casually upon meeting and started discussing this new movie Namesake which was supposed to be really good.

Little did I know that this movie will pave the way for the first innings of love in my life. During the movie something happened which made me share my feelings with her and she responded. I somehow feel that the movie had a lot to do with it.

Later on she told me how uncomfortable she was about the rumours at our work place and that's why she turned me down the other day.

We are together for about four years now and I wish we be that way for at least 7 more lives!
