Sara Khan, Manine Mishra, Saumya Tandon, Aishwarya Sakhuja, Nausheen Ali Sardar, Giaa Manek and Chandini Bhawanani let us in on the secrets of their true friendships.

I consider my sister Naina to be my best friend. There's no better friend than a sister.

Yes we do have our share of fights but we are confident that at the end of the day there will be no back stabbing, gossip behind our back and our secrets will be respected.

Every relationship is based on trust and I can bet my life that I can trust Naina more than myself.

She knows me more than I would know myself! We do not have to please each other or be diplomatic. I can always be myself without being judged.

We love going on holidays together and enjoy ourselves to the core... Another reason why our relationship can be labelled as friends because we are equally crazy and fun loving people!! We love each other no matter what!!

Manine Mishra: Both my friends are as important as my two eyes in my life

We have been friends for the last 20 years ever since we were in school. Both my friends are two years older to me. We lived in the same bureaucrat colony in Delhi as my mother is an ex-bureaucrat.

We are three different people from different setups yet hit it off really well and bonded for life. It’s a karmic relation because even our personal lives are uncannily similar.

In times of stress, be it marriage turmoil, emotional and moral support on daily basis we are each other’s biggest lifelines and I can’t think of my life without them.

We followed each other to Gurgaon after our parents retired, which wasn’t really planned. One more thing common between us is that we all have a brother and a daughter. Plus we all had a second marriage. It is so cryptic that we are different from each other yet so bonded, and unreal.

I have to just make a phone call if my mother is unwell and they are there. But I don’t have to worry till I reach.

You have to hear it, to believe the kind of mad conversation we have during the conference call. We discuss everything under the sun about ourselves, current affairs, children, sex, men, male badgering, books etc. But 90 per cent of the time we are giggling and laughing at ourselves.

We are each others secret keepers and can discuss anything and everything without being judgmental and fearful.

Since I am an actress people come to me for a photo or an autograph; you should see the joy on their faces. How many feel happy for others’ success?

Both my friends are as important as my two eyes in my life.

Abhinandita is a go-getter; Anita is the calming factor while I am the more spiritual one among us.

I am the one who always wants to learn new things in life. Now I am thinking of going through past life regression. I know there is a karmic relation between us but I want to see how we are so interconnected through invisible thread which joins us.

Anita Venkatesh is VP, Saar Health services and Abhinandita is a techinical director at KPMG

Saumya Tandon: You accept your friend with all his weaknesses and positives

I have two very dear friends. My friend Sanchita Mukherjee, from my college days in Delhi and Sharad Jagtiani, my best friend living in Mumbai.

Sharad is like a family to me. Sharad and I are like each other's perk machine. Whenever anyone of us is low the other tries and brings a sun shine. Our favourite pass time together is singing songs, though we always are up fighting about the choice of song.

We sing together while we are driving, in parties, during our evening walks. Those are the best moments... our singing moments. We plan our get togethers like two kids in a school, for days we plan the songs for the dance party, we plan the games and the gifts.

The fun part is we end up being the first ones to jump on the dance floor and the last to leave. My life in Mumbai would be colourless without Sharad as my friend.

I don't meet my friend Sanchita in Delhi on a daily basis, but we are connected and bonded for life. We still share the deepest emotions of each other's life. Distance and time have just made the bond stronger. Even if we connect after months, it feels as if we just met yesterday in college. I cherish her in my life.

Friendship to me is when you can share a tear as well as laugh together.

You accept your friend with all his weaknesses and positives. When you become his/her anchor when he/she is lost and you are always there in whatever circumstances.

Aishwarya Sakhuja: She hated me on the first sight as she thought I was too snooty

My best friend's name is Supriya Malik and we have been friends for over 10 years now.

We met in college and I still remember her having a broken leg when we first met... on the very first day she and I were not being allowed to get inside the college as we didn't have the required IDs.

She hated me on the first sight as she thought I was too snooty and had an attitude problem and I thought of her who needed help over all.

(Laughs) But we bonded over the fact that we both hated hanging out in college and preferred going out to a McDonald's or some place instead. While the rest of our gang that comprises of two more girls couldn't get enough of the campus.

We always made fun of her as she was a front bencher unlike the rest of us who preferred the benches right at the back...and despite paying so much attention in the class she always was the most confused amongst our lot.

We both are crazy about the series Sex And The City and we could relate to characters in the show... so we decided to behave exactly like the character we both related to for one full day.

So this one time when I was in New York with her we shopped, spoke and behaved like the characters for one full day and were amazed how much fun we had.

Junelia Aguiar Chandler and I have been friends from kindergarten; I guess from last 28 years. We are like soul sisters born and brought up in Bandra (Mumbai Suburb), went to same school and dreamt together on how to become rich (laughs).

I was the class monitor and she was the head girl of the school. As primary kids we talked about becoming Ambanis and Tatas. When we had no clue about what we were going to be. Just daydream about how many thousands we can make in a day/month/year if we would become successful.

In fact our friendship started with a cat fight, either she sat on my seat or I sat on hers and she scratched me. So she bribed me with her tiffin sweets, not to tell anyone. Next day when my dad saw, got furious and came marching to school to know “who did this to my daughter?”

So our teacher called me and asked. Junelia was sure I wouldn’t open my mouth and so was I. But somehow my fingers pointed at her and she got 2 spanks. After that it is history: no one could keep us apart.

We both cried crazily after our class 10 results as we had expected distinction marks. But both managed to get into a neighbouring college which had a common wall.

She helped me in French I helped her in Hindi. She was the one who always taught me to dress up correctly, right from my first pair of tight jeans. And I remember I was so conscious that I did not stop pulling my shirt down (laughs).

Her mother used to bake the best cakes for Christmas and weddings. Once her mom gave Christmas sweets for my family which were really yummy but I ended up eating everything in the class, and was left with only piece. We still crack up thinking of those crazy things.

And then we even planned that the men we choose to marry would be neighbours or at least in the same building. That way we would always be together. And we promised each other that no matter what we would also plan babies in a way that we both are pregnant at the same time (laughs loudly).

I am sure we kept God amused a lot (smiles).

Now I miss her a lot as since she has recently moved to Goa along with her husband (Ash Chandler) to be away from the hustle bustle of the city. Being a fashion designer she has come up with her own label Junelia Aguiar. But both of them keep coming to Mumbai for work. And I too visit them often in Goa and it’s like my second home for me.

Kritika Palekar and I met in college 9 years back and we are inseparable ever since. We studied bachelors in mass media together and majored in advertising and marketing together.

She was more interested in being behind the camera and I was the opposite.

I wanted to act and it’s extremely difficult to get a true friend who has no competition with you and helps you to be a better person.

She is my best critic for and most importantly who is always there for you when you are nobody and when you have become something.

Chandini Bhagwanani: Though we are best friends, our personalities are exactly opposite

Urja is my best friend, I know her since I was in class 4. We stayed in same building, studied in same school, same class and even sit on same bench. Also in Degree College we selected same subjects.

Though we are best friends, our personalities are exactly opposite. It is said, opposite poles attract, maybe that's the reason behind our friendship and connectivity.

She is been a guardian to me; she is more like a mother than a friend. She is like my alter ego, I consider myself lucky to have a friend like her. Even though we fight a lot, we will always be there for each other.

We are like soul sisters. We have been inseparable since last 12 years and our friendship is growing stronger and stronger day by day.
