The scooter market is seeing a good growth in the Indian market. Bajaj Auto might have withdrawn from selling scooters but Honda makes majority of its sales from just scooters. The Japanese automaker has three scooters which account for 45 per cent market share.

The Activa, Aviator and Dio are hugely popular in India. Mahindra has seen good success too with its power scooter and so has TVS with the Scooty.

Now a new player is all set to enter and change the very dimensions of the scooter segment. It is none other than Yamaha.

The Yamaha Ray looks stunning. It has a very big headlight (similar to the old Honda Dio) and will be offered in a range of colours.

The scooter does not look entirely feminine though and will suit male riders as well. It has a large and comfortable seat along with a generous storage bay underneath.

Yamaha has already started aggressively testing the Ray scooter in India. Many test mules have been spotted in the Southern region. Recently a bunch of Ray scooters were also spotted in Gujarat.

Prices are expected to start around Rs 50,000 and two variants will be offered (one with front drum brake, the other with front disc brake).

The Yamaha Ray scooter will directly rival the Suzuki Access and Swish.
