The result for the Common Admission Test, 2006, will be posted on the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad website tonight (January 2), IIM-A officials said.

Prof Ashish K Bhattacharyya, spokesperson, CAT group and chairperson (admissions), IIM, Calcutta, who spoke to the Economic Times, said shortlists from the respective IIMs will only be made by January 3-4. Shortlised candidates would get their call letters by the latter half of January; group discussions and personal interviews would be held in late February-March, he added.

The CAT exam for admission to prestigious IIMs and top business schools of the country were held on November 19, 2006, across the country.

About 6,500 students had appeared for the exam from Gujarat while about 1.90 lakh students appeared from across the country, the officials added.

The format of the exam was changed this year. The number of questions was reduced from 90 to 75 and additional half-an-hour time was given for completing the paper.
