Some of you may have received your board exam results already.

And some of you are anxiously waiting for them to be declared.

Besides, wondering what you will do next you are also worried about your parents' reaction. Will they be satisfied or disappointed?

Career counsellors Prachi and Srividya from YoungBuzz, who chatted with Get Ahead readers on May 12, had this advice to offer: 'Understand that if your parents get upset, it is because they are also anxious about your future.'

'Try to communicate your feelings with them and listen to what they have to say. Communication always helps.'

hello asked, What is the future of Software industry ?

Srividya answers, 
IT is a booming industry. You can do an MBA with a specialisation in IT.


NIhar asked, Sir, I am 12th stnd student and am interested in Mechatronics & Mechanical Which are the Best Institues in India for me ..I am also very much fond of Football???

Srividya answers, 
The best institutes include  the IITs, VJTI, Mumbai and Thadomal, Mumbai.  


Atin asked, Good Morning..... I wanted to ask you how to deal with the situation when the marks don't come as expected. Parents start saying things which sometimes are so discouraging!

Prachi answers, 
Hi Atin. It is disheartening to get results that are not up to the mark when you have worked hard. Understand that if your parents get upset, it is because they are also anxious about your future. They are upset about the situation, not really with you. Try to communicate your feelings with them and listen to what they have to say. Communication always helps.


gaurav asked, I want to become an accountant as my last years results were very good but this year it is very difficult. Do you think I should become an accountant?

Srividya answers, 
You can do a B Com with finance and accounts. Or a CA or an ICWA (cost accountancy). Later an MBA in finance

Srividya answers, 
You can pursue an under-graduate programme in animation from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad or a three month short-term course from Arena Multimedia (that offers courses at centres across India) or Edit Institute (that has several centres in western India).  


Atin asked, I know this is a stupid question but can you please tell be the careers which can be taken from commerce stream which earns you rock solid money (other than CA)!

Srividya answers, 
Ideally you need to pursue an MBA from top institutes like the IIMs or XLRI, Jamshedpur, which gives you better job prospects.


aero asked, will i get a chance to go abroad if i do aeronautical engineering from the bangalore college for ME?

Srividya answers, 
It depends on thte university. But it does have scope abroad.

Hi Atin, you can earn a lot of money through various career avenues. All it needs is interest, aptitude and hard work. You could do an MBA in finance, ICWA courses, CS, etc. But again, hard work is the key.

Srividya answers, 
Yes, you can do a correspondence course from a recognised university.

Srividya answers, It is offered by the IITs and IIM Bangalore. It is a combination of financial analysis with a technical bent of mind.

Prachi answers, 
There is no institute offering a part-time MCA (masters in computer applications) . It is a full-time course.

register at naukri.com or monster.com or rediff or other such sites for job opportunities.

No, there's a correspondence course.


cooler asked, In the light of the reservations halla gullah, I am extremely discouraged to study. After all how should I convince myself that even after getting some good marks in XIIth next year, it will be easier for me given that I just have 50% of the seats available in all the exams and universities? Why should I not be positively encouraged to join my father's paan shop in the city?

The quota debate is still on, so do not get discouraged yet.

No, it is not okay. If you are getting a degree from a well renowned university, only then you should take it up.

You must be creative and have an aptitude for spatial relations and be able to visualise well. Institutes like Arena, Edit, Maya (Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics, which has branches across India) and Graffiti (based in Mumbai) offer courses in graphics and animation.


deepaknprabhu asked, i am bcom from mumbai university I want to do MBA, i am working with an mnc full time is not possible i will have to go for either part time for correspondence which is helpful i alone in bmumbai i have financial problems also what to do

Srividya answers, 
If you have financial problem go for a part-time programme. You can also look at taking an education loan.  


aero asked, do universities abroad accept students from hindustan aernautics??? is there any exam for that?

You should meet an overseas counsellor who will help you jot down the universities.

Srividya answers, 
Ideally, you need to pursue a degree programme which will give you better job prospects.


james asked, i need to know what are the available fields to be a web programmer, computer application software developer...which would be the best field for me to get into?for my graduation

Srividya answers, 
You can pursue either a BE in IT or Bsc in IT. Later, certificate programmes offered by CISCO / Novel.


bb asked, I am working as an Excecutive, Information Systems.To boost my career I want to do an MBA in Systems from ICFAI, cud u please tell about the acceptability of this course from ICFAI in industry

ICFAI, Hyderabad is one the good universities so you can take up an MBA programme.

You need to give MHT-CET or IIT for getting into engineering.  


sabrina asked, i am studing in 7 std.i am scared of exams but i always get 1 or 2 rank what r the tips 2 reduce tension

Prachi answers, 
Hi Sabrina, a little tension is a good thing. However, getting too worked up about your exams is not healthy for you. Besides studies you must take up one hobby or sport that you enjoy and pursue it. Also, make time for your friends. And congrats on getting the first/ second rank!

The travel industry is currently doing very well and you can take up an IATA course from institutes like IITC. For more info, you can log onto www.iitcworld.com


james asked, I would like to do BCA (bachelors in computer applications) ?Tell me how much is this degree going to help me in the long run of becoming a successful web programmer or do i need to have a post graduation degree in it too?MCA i mean..In other words where can u be consumed after i have a degree in Computer applications?

MCA will definitely give you better prospects than a graduation.

IT is a booming industry and there is a demand for qualified IT professionals.


arvind asked, I am a Professional Consultant having about 8yrs of experience. Done MBA (DLP) and Graduated with 51% in B.Com. Now i am planning to go for LLB (legal studies) from DU(Regular Course). Am i Eligible for this and is this the right choice.

If you are interested in law, you can definitely take it up. But i would recommend that you meet a career counsellor who wil giv eyou a more accurate picture as to what to consider

Hey, tourism in India is an upcoming career option, today. You could get into hotel management and travel/tourism as career options.

Yes.

The best colleges are VJTI, Mumbai and IIT.

It depends on your aptitude and your interest. One way to find out is to take an aptitude test.

In MBA you have specialisations like finance, marketing, HR, systems -- so based on your interest opt for any one of them.

IITC recognised courses are good for travel and tourism and students who take up these have brighter prospects. Good colleges include CMR Institute of Management Studies, Bangalore and Garware Institute, Mumbai.
