BJP wins by-elections in Rajasthan

December 15, 2002 11:54 IST

The Bharatiya Janata Party has won all three by-elections to the Rajasthan assembly.

In Sagwara, Kanak Mal Katara defeated his Congress rival Surendra Kumar by 14,105 votes.

In Bali, Pushpendra Singh defeated his Congress opponent Bhim Raj Bhatti by over 13,000 votes.

In Bansur, Rohitash Kumar defeated Congress candidate Sardara Ram by 2,605 votes.

The BJP's victories is a setback for Chief Minister Ashok Gelhot, whose Congress party rules Rajasthan.
