Riding on a superb unbeaten run in the ongoing World Twenty20, India dislodged Sri Lanka to clinch the top rung in the ICC rankings.

"India has moved ahead of Sri Lanka into the number-one position on the Reliance ICC T20I Team Rankings Table," read a statement from the ICC.

India gained seven ratings points after staying unbeaten in their group engagements in Bangladesh to finish with 130, on par with Sri Lanka.

But when ratings were calculated beyond the decimal point, Mahendra Singh Dhoni's side found itself ranked higher.

India and Sri Lanka are both through to the semi-finals and have a chance to either retain or reclaim the number-one ranking.

In the other change in the table, the West Indies and Australia swapped positions. The West Indies are now ranked fifth. After a gain of five ratings points they are now on 115.

Australia, meanwhile, dropped a rung to sixth. After losing five ratings points they are on 110.

Thirteen of the 16 teams in the rankings table featured in the tournament, which carries three million US dollars in prize-money, with the winning side taking home US $1.1 million and the runner US $550,000.

His efforts gained him 109 ratings points and helped him finish on 855, 45 ratings points ahead of teammate Narine.

Before the start of the tournament, he was behind Narine by just one rating point.

England's Alex Hales moved up a place to second in the rankings for batsmen.

Sri Lanka's Kusal Perera and South Africa batsman J P Duminy made it to the top 10 for the first-time ever.
