Pakistan bowling coach Azhar Mahmood has called on the his side to draw inspiration from the women's side who displayed a spirited performance during the recently-concluded World Twenty20.

The women's team produced impressive performance throughout the tournament as they defeated hosts India and Bangladesh in the group stage matches. However, they couldn't secure a berth in the semifinals after losing to an experienced English side.

Meanwhile, the Shahid Afridi-led side appeared jaded and suffered three successive defeats against India, Australia and New Zealand to crash out of the tournament.

Former all-rounder Mahmood said that the Pakistan women's team were an example to the men's team at the World Twenty20 as they had played with passion and pride, the Dawn reported.

Following the conclusion of the T20 format's pinnacle event, Afridi stepped down from captaincy while head coach Waqar Younis resigned from his position with three months left on his contract.
