The Board of Control for Cricket in India is all set to hire the services of former England pacer Frank Tyson for a "comprehensive training session" for its bowling coaches.
BCCI sources in Kolkata told rediff.com that Tyson will hold forth on the art of pace bowling at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.
The former pace machine will, however, not interact with any bowler directly but only advice selected bowling coaches.
"This is because the coaches are the key persons who will identify and groom talent. So their training is of great importance," the sources said.
The BCCI has directed all its affiliated units to select and send four coaches for the Bangalore session. The NCA camp for bowlers is slated to be held between July and August.
"The BCCI will not interfere with the selection process for the coaches and leave it totally to the units to decide. We have also not set any pre-requisite for selection," the sources said.
The board plans to have a "follow-up mechanism" in place to "assess the benefit that the coaches might have had from the stint."
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Cricket Association is trying to persuade Tyson for a brief stint with their pacers. The Englishman had had a session with Mumbai's bowlers a few years ago.
