India - New Zealand, seventh ODI

** This match was the first floodlit LOI match to be played at Westpac Trust Park, Hamilton. It is the seventh venue in New Zealand to host LOIs under lights. India is the only country, other than New Zealand to have more floodlit LOI venues -- nine!

** The 49-run partnership between Yuvraj Singh and Anil Kumble just failed to surpass India's best for the 7th wicket against the Kiwis. The best still remains the 55-run stand between Abid Ali and Madan Lal at Manchester, way back on 14-6-1975.  However, the Yuvraj-Kumble partnership went past India's best for the 7th wicket, in New Zealand, which was the 44 runs put on between Manoj Prabhakar and Kapil Dev against Australia at Christchurch on 3-3-1990.

** The wicket of Yuvraj Singh was Scott Styris's 50th of his career, in his 51st match. He becomes the 17th New Zealander and the 137th bowler in LOIs to reach this landmark.

** Stephen Fleming's three catches was the maximum taken by a home fieldsman at this venue. India's Dilip Vengsarkar (against New Zealand on 15-2-1981) is the only other fielder to take three catches at this ground.

** Brendon McCullum's three dismissals (all catches) made him the fourth keeper to claim the record number of dismissals at Hamilton after New Zealander Ian Smith (against Pakistan on 14-3-1989), Australian Ian Healy (against New Zealand on 27-3-1993) and Sri Lankan Romesh Kaluwitharana (against New Zealand on 8-2-2001).

** Andre Adams's 4-21 is now the best bowling performance at this ground, bettering former paceman Danny Morrison's 4-33 against Pakistan on 14-3-1989. The previous best bowling figures against India at this venue was the 3-18 by left-arm pace bowler Gary Troup on 15-2-1981.

** India's total of 122 was the lowest made at this ground by any team. Pakistan were restricted to 138-9 in their allocated 50 overs against the home team on 14-3-1989.  India's 153 against New Zealand on 15-2-1981 was also the lowest completed innings total at this ground before this match.

** During his unbeaten knock of 60 runs (when on 44) Stephen Fleming became the second batsman after Nathan Astle (2743 runs in 68 matches) to aggregate 2000 runs at home. Fleming now has 2016 runs in 75 matches in New Zealand.

** The 18 wickets in this series by Javagal Srinath is the maximum taken by any bowler in LOI history in a bilateral series. Though many other bowlers have taken more wickets than Srinath in a series/tournament played between three or more teams, Srinath now holds the record for a bilateral series (i.e. matches played between two teams only). The previous record was 17 wickets each -- by West Indies pace bowler Patrick Patterson (in 6 matches in India in the 1987-88 Charminar Challenge series) and South Africa's Chris Matthew (in 7 matches against Australia in South Africa in 1993-94). For the record, the most wickets taken by an Indian bowler in a tournament is 20 by Kapil Dev in 12 matches during the 1985-86 World Series in Australia.

** The man of the match award was Fleming's eighth in 189 matches. His last award came against the West Indies at Napier three years ago, on 6-1-2000, for his unbeaten knock of 66 runs.
