India may have lost to Pakistan in Jaipur on Sunday but it still finished the series with a 3-2 success and that has been enough to lift it into fourth position in the LG ICC ODI Championship table.

Pakistan, meanwhile, which occupied that fourth spot ahead of the series, has now dropped to sixth place, overtaken not only by India but also by Sri Lanka.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni's side is now just four rating points behind third-placed New Zealand and will swap places with Daniel Vettori's side if South Africa makes a clean-sweep of the three-match ODI series between the two sides following on from the two-Test series that also finished on Sunday.

The three-match ODI series between  South Africa and New Zealand will be played in Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town on November 25, 30 and December 2.

India entered its series with Pakistan in fifth spot in the ladder and trailing its great rival, albeit by a matter of decimal places. However, victories in Guwahati (by five wickets), Kanpur (by 46 runs) and Gwalior (by six wickets) have helped it secure some silverware and fourth place in the LG ICC ODI Championship table.

Pakistan's victory by 31 runs in Jaipur prevented it from dropping behind seventh-placed England but even now it remains ahead of Paul Collingwood's side only when the ratings are calculated to three decimal places.

Australia still leads the table, five rating points clear of South Africa.

India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and England have no more ODIs to play in 2007 and that means the West Indies could close the gap on them as it is scheduled to play five matches against Zimbabwe in November and December.

The West Indies, currently eighth in the LG ICC ODI Championship table, is five points behind England and Pakistan and six points behind Sri Lanka.

LG ICC ODI Championship:

Rank Team Rating
1 Australia 128
2 South Africa 123
3 New Zealand 114
4 India 110
5 Sri Lanka 108
6 Pakistan 107
7 England 107
8 West Indies 102
9 Bangladesh 48
10 Ireland 28
11 Zimbabwe 17
12 Kenya 0
