An unbeaten 82-run sixth-wicket partnership between Sairaj Bahutule and Satyajit Satbhai saw Maharashtra score 204 for the loss of five wickets on the opening day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'A' match against Gujarat in Valsad on Thursday.
The visitors were 122 for the loss of five wickets at one stage before Bahutule, who moved to Maharashtra from Mumbai this season, joined hands with Satbhai to steady the innings.
Bahutle, 48 inclusive of seven fours, and Satbhai, 41 inclusive of six fours, were unbeaten when stumps were drawn for the day.
For Gujarat, medium pacer Siddhartha Trivedi claimed three wickets for 38 runs while Hitesh Majumdar and Salil Yadav chipped in with a wicket each.
