Describing the Indian and Pakistan cricket teams as talented and finely balanced, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf told Board of Control for Cricket in India president Sharad Pawar on Friday that he was looking forward to exciting cricket in the Test and limited-overs series.

Hoping that the two teams will give their best to provide entertainment to the followers of the game, Musharraf said both teams had some very good batsmen and high quality bowlers.

'I am confident that the series will be a treat for cricket followers all over the world,' an official statement quoted him as telling Pawar.

President Musharraf, an avid cricket follower, said the current series will contribute further in raising the standard of the sport in South Asia.

On his part, Pawar thanked Musharraf for the opportunity to call on him, the release said. The Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Shivshankar Menon and former foreign secretary and Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Shaharyar Khan were present at the meeting.

Earlier, officials of both the sides said it was a courtesy call and much of their talks centred on issues relating to cricket.

Pakistan's Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said the focus of the discussions was cricket.

Pawar, who arrived in Islamabad on Thursday night by a special plane after attending the ICC meeting in Karachi, drove down to Musharraf's Camp Office at Army House in Rawalpindi on Friday morning along with Khan and Menon.
