Former Test skipper Sunil Gavaskar will not go to Pakistan to watch the groundbreaking series between India and Pakistan despite an invitation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Gavaskar will travel to London, where he will commentate on the series for Sky Sports television channel.

"I'll leave for London soon where I will be commentating on the Pakistan tour for a TV channel," Gavaskar said.

The Little Master was in Kolkata on Wednesday to attend a meeting of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

As a goodwill gesture, the BCCI has extended an invitation to all former Indian captains to travel to Pakistan to watch the cricket between the sub-continent

giants.

"But, I already had this assignment, so obviously I can't make it to Pakistan," Gavaskar said.

The commenting assignment has also come as a blessing in disguise for Gavaskar, who is reportedly being approached by political parties to campaign for them.

The Congress even wants to field him as a candidate from Rajapur in Maharastra. But, the batting legend has turned down all the offers.
