Barring Amit Mishra's inclusion, there were no major surprises in India's Test squad for the tour of Sri Lanka, the selectors retaining as many as 14 players who toured Bangladesh for the one-off Test earlier this month.
The 32-year-old leg spinner returns to the fold after four years.
Team India is touring Sri Lanka for the first time in five years, having not won a Test series in the island nation since 1993.
However, India did win the last Test it played in Sri Lanka, a five-wicket verdict at the P Sara Oval, in August 2010.
This 15-memmber team will attempt to ensure Team India its first series win on Sri Lanka soil in 22 years.
