A 16-member England team, led by Michael Vaughan, arrived at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai on Monday afternoon for a three-Test and seven ODI series.

The team arrived amidst tight security and was immediately whisked away from a side exit to the Taj Mahal hotel in south Mumbai. None of the players or coach spoke to the assembled media.

Vaughan will hold a press conference later in the evening at the hotel.

England are aiming to break the jinx of not having won a Test series in India since 1984-85, when the David Gower-led team defeated the hosts.

They begin their tour with a practice game against Mumbai from February 18 to 20, followed by a three-day warm-up match against the Board President's XI at Baroda from February 23 to 25.

The first Test will be played at Nagpur from March 1 to 5, followed by two Tests in Mohali and Mumbai.

The seven-match one-day series will begin in the last week of March.

The team: Michael Vaughan (captain), Ian Bell, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, Steve Harmison, Matthew Hoggard, Geraint Jones, Simon Jones, Kevin Pietersen, Liam Plunkett, Matt Prior, Andrew Strauss, Marcus Trescothick, Shaun Udal, Monty Panesar, Ian Blackwell. Coach: Duncan Fletcher.
