Cricket South Africa president Mtutuzeli Nyoka, who was at loggerheads with CEO Gerald Majola over the bonuses paid to CSA staff members for the conduct of the 2009 IPL, was sacked following a vote of no confidence by the body's members on Saturday.

"The majority of the Members' Forum proposed a motion of no confidence in the president of Cricket South Africa continuing in his portfolio," CSA said in a statement after a Special General Meeting.

"Accordingly, with immediate effect, the position of Dr M Nyoka, as President of Cricket South Africa, is terminated forthwith," it added.

CSA vice-president AK Khan was appointed acting president until the election of a new president at the Annual General Meeting to be held in August.

The controversy revolves around bonuses, which were paid to Majola and other CSA officials after the hosting of the 2009 IPL and ICC Champions Trophy tournaments.

Apparently, 40 members of CSA got bonuses worth a whopping 4.7 million rands.

Nyoka asked for an external investigation into the payments but the CSA board opted for an internal probe at the end of which Majola was cleared of any wrongdoing.

But Nyoka remained at loggerheads with Majola and even Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula's intervention could do little to bring down the tensions between the two.
