# Sehwag's unbeaten 52 is his 14th half century in Test cricket -- his second against South Africa.

# Harbhajan's 21 instances of five wickets or more in an innings have been exceeded only by Anil Kumble [Images] (35) and Kapil Dev [Images] (23) for India.

# Harbhajan has now captured five wickets in an innings three times at Chepauk -- his previous two instances being 8 for 84 and 7 for 133 against Australia in 2000-01.

# South Africa's innings of 540 off 152.5 overs is their highest total against India in India, bettering their 510 for 9 wickets declared at Kanpur in 2004-05.

# South Africa's total of 540 is their overall second best against India -- their highest being 563 at Bloemfontein in 2001-02.

# Hashim Amla's 159 is his fourth Test hundred and first against India.

# Amla is now the first South African No.3 batsman to register a century against India in India, obliterating Nicky Boje's 85 at Bangalore in 1999-00.

# Amla's innings of 159 is the highest by a South African No 3 batsman against India, eclipsing Hansie Cronje's [Images] 135 at Port Elizabeth in 1992-93.

# Amla and Mark Boucher's [Images] 99-run stand for the sixth wicket is a record for this wicket against India at Chepauk, bettering the 89 between Duleep Mendis and Anura Ranasinghe of Sri Lanka [Images] in 1982-83.

# Boucher (70) recorded the highest individual innings by a South African wicketkeeper against India, surpassing his own innings of 68 not out at Port Elizabeth in 2001-02.
