Statistical highlights of the cricket tri-series match between Australia and Sri Lanka [Images] played at the MCG in Melbourne on Friday.

# Sri Lanka registered their 20th win in 68 games against Australia - lost 46, NR 2.

# Sri Lanka's win is their 8th in 40 ODIs against Australia in Australia (Lost 32).

# Under Jayawardene's captaincy, Sri Lanka recorded their first win against Australia in six matches.

# Overall, the win is Sri Lanka's 37th out of 64 games under Jayawardene's captaincy (Lost 23, NR 4). Overall, Jayawardene have won 40 ODIs out of 67.

# Against Australia, Sri Lanka have won 4 out of 11 contested at Melbourne.

# Sri Lanka (221) posted their highest total against Australia in the 2007-08 CB Series - their first total of 200-plus against Australia in the competition.

# Sanath Jayasuriya is without a fifty in 20 innings in ODIs - 305 runs in 20 innings at an average of 15.25.

# Jayasuriya's performance, however, is not his worst in ODIs. His worst performance was between December 26, 1989 and October 28, 1993, aggregating 356 runs at an average of 11.13, without a fifty, in 33 innings.

# Gilchrist is now the leading run-getter in Australia-Sri Lanka ODIs, eclipsing Aravinda de Silva's aggregate of 1451 at an average of 48.36 in 36 matches, including two centuries and 10 fifties.

# Gilchrist, with 313 runs at an average of 39.12, including one century and two fifties in 8 games, became the first Australian to aggregate 300 runs in the 2007-08 CB series.

# Since recording 172 runs by Adam Gilchrist [Images] and Matthew Hayden [Images] against Sri Lanka in the World Cup Final at Bridgetown on April 28, 2007, this is Australia's first century stand for the first wicket in 18 ODIs.

# Gilchrist has been involved in 28 century stands for the first wicket - 16 with Hayden; 8 with Mark Waugh [Images], 3 with Simon Katich and 1 with James Hopes.

# Adam Gilchrist got his 27th Man of the Match award. His tally is the second best by an Australian, next only to Ricky Ponting [Images] (28).

# Muralitharan, with James Hopes' wicket, became the first Sri Lankan to claim 50 wickets against Australia.  The break-up of his 51 wickets against Australia is - 46 in 34 matches for Sri Lanka and 5 in three matches for ICC [Images] World XI.
