They made their debuts together, on June 20, 1996. It would have been neat to have played their 100th Test together, but injury and the vagaries of form and selection dictated that Rahul Dravid [Images] got there ahead of his fellow debutant. As Sourav Ganguly [Images] readies to join the 100-Club, Dravid reminisces -- on that first match, the first century, and what Ganguly was like as a captain.

"It is just fantastic to know that Sourav will be playing his 100th Test. For me this is even more special as I have seen him making his debut. I was there as a debutant too. It feels just like yesterday. I have had an opportunity to play in all single one of these 100 Test matches that Sourav has played. It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to play with him. To reach the 100-Test landmark is a tribute to his skill, determination and hard work. Together we have some fond memories of playing together. Some fantastic wins, some great partnerships. Playing together since junior age group I have seen Sourav grow as a player and as a good person.

Being there at the other end during 1996 Lord's Test match and watch Sourav scoring his century is my favourite memory, because he was included in the 1992 team which toured Australia. And then after a gap of four long years he came back to score a century on debut. That was special. I have no doubt in my mind while saying that Sourav was a great captain and an innovative leader. He is one of the most successful captains. He had his ways of leading the side which was quite effective. I would like to share one funny observation of Sourav. When Sourav was leading the Indian side, on the morning of the match he used to be so occupied with thoughts related to match, that he would forget many things. On many occasions we use to remind him about getting warmed up or taking a knock by saying "Come on Dadiwhat's going through your mind.planning karenge bad me pahele warm up kar lo"

All of us will be more than happy when we will lock horns with Australian team on 26th December 2007 as Sourav will be playing his 100th Test match."
