Dinesh Mongia's three-wicket haul went in vain as Leicestershire were beaten by Somerset in the semi-finals of the Twenty20 Cup at the Brit Oval on Saturday night.

Mongia took three for 30 from four overs, helping Leicestershire restrict Somerset to 157 for nine. Mongia's victims included prolific England [Images] opener Marcus Trescothick [Images], who scored 25 off 19 balls, inclusive of three fours and a six.

While chasing, Leicestershire suffered a batting collapse, spiraling down from 74 for no loss to 98 for four before falling short by four runs.

H Ackerman and (19) D Maddy (56) gave the side a fine start before Ian Blackwell's (3-25) lethal bowling spelt the doom for Leicestershire.

Mongia scored 12 (9b, 2x4) before falling to Blackwell's guile.

Later, Somerset beat Lancashire in the final to clinch the title.
