Highest successful run-chases Rajneesh Gupta | December 12, 2005 In the third and final match of Chappell-Hadlee Trophy New Zealand registered a remarkable win over world champions Australia. Chasing Australia's mammoth total of 331 for 7, New Zealand needed 74 runs from last 7 overs with only 2 wickets remaining. New Zealand had let the second match of the series slip away from their grip in a much better position, but wicket-keeper McCullum and skipper Vettori displayed a grand exhibition of big-hitting and helped New Zealand achieve the target with one over still remaining. New Zealand's victory is the highest ever successful chase in the history of one-day internationals as is evident from the following table:
